Der Begriff Somatoliberin bezeichnet ein Hormon, das im Hypothalamus produziert wird und die Freisetzung des Wachstumshormons (GH) aus der Hypophyse anregt. In wissenschaftlichen Kreisen ist es auch als Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH) bekannt.

Biochemische Eigenschaften
Somatoliberin ist ein peptidisches Hormon, das aus 44 Aminosäuren besteht. Es bindet an spezifische Rezeptoren auf der Oberfläche von Somatotropen Zellen in der Hypophyse, wodurch die Sekretion von GH ausgelöst wird.
